A dermatologist tweeted a post of a picture of a 92 year old woman who applied sunscreen on her face but not her neck for over 40 years, and it went viral. The comparison of her face vs her neck was a compelling reminder to never skip your sunscreen unless you're not human or are dead. Ok, that latter part was not in the article but it conveys a good case for the importance of protecting your skin, and the damage that UV rays can cause.
UV exposure that can lead to skin cancer is one of the most common type of cancer, but is one of the most preventable. It's been widely understood that people that have light skin and eyes, those that burn easily, or have a family history are at a higher risk of getting skin cancer, but in reality anyone is at risk. An estimate by the American Academy of Dermatology Association shows that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime!
